The Pan-African Scientific Research Council is in the process of selecting inaugural members. The
Council’s goal is to support and promote Africa-focused research in social sciences; biomedical sciences,
energy, environmental and agricultural sciences; statistics; applied mathematics and computer science.
The council will provide a platform for multidisciplinary collaboration amongst scientists, fund research,
establish fellowships aimed at young scholars and support evidence-based policymaking.
The ARUA-MELLON FOUNDATION programme was launched in the academic year 2017/2018 and supports PhD students and post-doctoral fellowships from five (5) universities affiliated with ARUA (African Research Universities Alliance), which includes the University of Nairobi, University of Ghana, University of Cape Town, University of Witwatersrand and the University of
