Dr. Sophia Kaane has been confirmed as a Panelist during Research Week 2020. She will present during the virtual conference on “The Value of Information Governance, Leadership & Ethics in Higher Education Institution”.
Dr. Sophia Kaane is the current Director of Library Services, University of Texas Permian Basin, USA. She is a progressive library administration professional, skilled in building and developing the library into an integral component of university education and student academic success. Instrumental in creating and implementing strategic initiatives that enhance the utilization of library resources and offer students and faculty the tools they need in research, discovery, teaching, and presenting their findings.
She is a key contributor to the formation and design of the Kenya Libraries and Information Services Consortium (KLISC), which brought together university, research, public and national libraries in Kenya and its former Chair. Member of the team that reviewed and crafted the Standards for University Libraries in Kenya. Author and presenter in conferences, seminars, and continuing education events across the globe. Her focus is on library/information management, information literacy and collaboration/cooperation in higher education.
