The Conference theme “FINANCING AND MARKET LINKAGES FOR WOMEN’S ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT (WEE) IN A POST COVID ENVIRONMENT”
Associate Vice Chancellor,RIE,Prof. Margaret Hutchinson During the Launch of The National Alliance Building for Women Economic Empowerment (NABWEE). The conference was held virtually, but the presenters were physically present at CIO studios on Limuru road on 24th February, 2022.
Prof Hutchinson her speech in which she noted, In the economic front, research has demonstrated that women continue to be seriously under-represented in the business sphere and remain largely economically excluded. and to address this, CRAWN Trust is investing in partnerships to drive advocacy for women’s economic empowerment (WEE) to close the economic gender gap and for this bold move, she extend her gratitude to CRAWN Trust and the Women Economic Empowerment hub at the University of Nairobi for their partnership.
Also she noted women empowerment movements and feminist mobilization are central to fostering women’s Economic empowerment. Women’s economic empowerment is increasingly gaining traction as an important instrument in the promotion of their capacity in achieving their rights and welfare while reducing poverty at household level and increasing overall economic growth. Therefore, the Women’s movements play a critical role in advancing women focused polices for meaningful gender justice.
