PARC Partnerships Fund 2021

This new opportunity is open to applications from Africa-based researchers at African institutions to lead Africa-centred projects in collaboration with colleagues at the University of Bristol. Building on advances made in the UK research sector toward promoting greater equity in collaboration with global South partners, this funding aims to help embed a mode of partnerships that goes further in redressing the multiple layers of power imbalances often found in global North-Africa research.

Knowledge for Tomorrow – Cooperative Research Projects in Sub-Saharan Africa

The funding initiative aims at the development and sustainable reinforcement of research in Sub-Saharan Africa and is open to all disciplines. A primary objective is to provide junior researchers in Africa with an opportunity to enhance their skills and academic qualifications and to open up future prospects in their home countries. Besides supporting African-German research cooperation, a special focus has always been on the development, reinforcement, and extension of academic networks within and beyond the African continent.

The Swiss Programme for International Research by Scientific Investigation Teams promotes team-oriented cross-border research

The SNSF offers a wide range of international funding schemes and works closely with foreign funding organisations to promote cross-border collaboration. The SPIRIT programme facilitates knowledge exchange between Swiss researchers and researchers in selected countries that are receiving development assistance. With SPIRIT, the SNSF is giving Swiss researchers more opportunities to collaborate with partners in many countries around the world.

Reimagining Civic Engagement Kenya Sudden Opportunity Grant: V-21181-KE-SO

Kenya is in dire and urgent need of a comprehensive public civic education program with regards to ongoing political developments. An examination of the conversations and engagements in the mainstream and social media platforms reveals that the level of civic awareness and engagement is becoming more restricted and undermined across all sections of the Kenyan citizenry. The available civic education is politically subjective and geared towards convincing the masses to vote for one side or other on the basis of political considerations.

AHRC early career research grant

The grant funds projects with a full economic cost between £50,000 and £250,000 lasting up to five years.

Cellular Dynamics and Function Research Grant

The cluster seeks theory-driven investigations of diverse cellular and subcellular systems. Research proposals are encouraged that use multidisciplinary physical, chemical, mathematical and computational approaches to provide novel techniques and integrative insight into fundamental cellular functions. Innovative proposal using plants, microbes, and nontraditional model species are encouraged. Proposals that rely heavily on descriptive approaches are given lower priority.
