The University of Nairobi officially opened its 8th Annual Research and Innovation Week 2025 on Tuesday, 21st October, 2025 attracting partners and participants from across the country and beyond. The high-profile event was themed, ‘Advancing research and innovation — moving discoveries from the lab to real-world impact in today’s dynamic global landscape.’
The opening ceremony was graced by Dr. Caroline Hunja, Secretary for Higher Education and Research at the Ministry of Education, who officially launched the week on behalf of Principal Secretary, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala.
Varsity hosted the Sustainability Research and Innovation-Africa Satellite Event 2025
The University of Nairobi played host to the just concluded Sustainability Research and Innovation- Africa Satellite Event 2025 that saw over 200 Researchers and Innovators from the African continent gather to talk about African Science, Innovation and Sustainability.
The three-day event took place between June 4-6, 2025, with two-day pre-event meetings of Research consortia; Africa-Japan CORE Research Teams and the Future Earth African hub meetings.

On Friday 11th April 2025, at the Faculty of Agriculture, upper Kabete campus, the University of Nairobi Community planted over 3000 seedlings of avocado and indigenous trees.
