Now in its 9th year of annual training, the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Enterprise (DVC RIE) in Grant Proposal Writing training started in earnest with the first group being trained on the 21st to 23rd of October 2020. The training was held virtually due to the ongoing COVID 19 restrictions.
The first session had 34 registered participants. In their feedback about the training conducted, the lauded the office of the DVC RIE for their great organization that led to them receiving what they described as high quality training. The workshops adopts a practice-oriented teamwork approach providing opportunities for the sharing of experiences between participants with different levels of experience in proposal development.
The hands-on participatory workshops, lasting three days each, seeks to continue strengthening the capacity of all participants to develop sound, fundable proposals to attract research funding. The trainings are not restricted to University of Nairobi staff members and students, but are open to the General Public
The training is one of three trainings on the same that will take place, each one week apart. The second session takes place between the 28th to the 30 of October. The last session which is session III will be trained on the 1st week of November, between the 4th to the 6th November 2020.
All in all, the office of the DVC RIE expects to train over 120 participants in the trainings.
