Office of the DVC (RIE) Holds a Sensitization Workshop on the Proposed Researcher Profile Application

Effective usage of data, anywhere offers a fresh and effective way of providing real time information on any institution or entity. Proper and effective use of research data enables institutions to objectively and accurately track performance as well as make accurate strategic affirmations about any institution’s capacity.

Without a sound research activities data, strategic affirmations and attempts at evaluating performance remains general statements that are rarely backed up with reliable consistent data.

The Office of DVC (RIE) has initiated a project to enhance the collection, management and use of data on research activities by developing and implementing the Researcher Profile Application. The proposed application will integrate with the other UON information and data management systems to ensure that researcher activities profiles are  up to date, complete and accurate.

The team has determined the completeness and accuracy of research activities data at the University of Nairobi, and has identified gaps in the research activity data capture framework.

The engagement with Deans, Directors and Chairmen of Departments held on 26 Sept 2019 was one of the activities to validate and determine the scope of the proposed Researcher Profile Application.

The initiative, led by Rosemary Omwandho, Office of DVC (RIE) is the funded by IREX-UASP Alumni Small Grant, cost shared with University of Nairobi.
