Research Innovation

Global Food System Challenge

Providing a growing global population with access to affordable, safe, and nutritious food for a healthy diet while maintaining the health of our planet will require transformational changes in the food system. Advances and discoveries in science and technology and creative new approaches and collaborations across cultures and multiple disciplines will lead to forward-thinking innovations with the potential for significant food system changes.

Call for Concept Notes for Regional Innovation Collaboration Projects in Eastern Africa

This Call for concept notes is intended for scientists from universities, research institutes, and government agencies to work jointly with their counterparts in the private sector to co-develop value-added products (goods and services) from biological resources. Value-added products may be from agricultural produce, other biological materials including insects, microbes, and animals, or biological waste.

The concept notes should address any of the following BioInnovate Africa thematic areas:

Global Convening Programmes

The British Academy is aiming to support international programs that convene researchers internationally together over three years to develop sustained engagement across disciplines and borders. The Academy envisages the awards made through this call will excel in achieving the following expectations:

Chronic, Non-Communicable Diseases and Disorders Across the Lifespan: Fogarty International Research Training Award

his funding opportunity announcement (FOA) encourages applications for the Chronic, Non-Communicable Diseases and Disorders Across the Lifespan: Fogarty International Research Training Award (NCD-LIFESPAN) D43 program for institutional research training programs in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs, as defined by the World Bank classification system).

Microbial-based Cancer Imaging and Therapy - Bugs as Drugs

The complex nature of the interactions between the microbe, tumor, and immune system requires multidisciplinary collaboration between microbiologists, cancer researchers, and immunologists with the goal of developing innovative approaches to improve our understanding of this system and utilize it for cancer therapy. This initiative seeks to support studies of tumor-microbe interactions needed to develop new cancer imaging and therapy strategies that address unmet clinical needs.

Nestle Foundation Pilot Grant

The Nestlé Foundation initiates and supports research in human nutrition with public health relevance in low-income and lower-middle-income countries according to the World Bank classification (see http://www.worldbank.org). The results of the research projects should ideally provide a basis for implementation and action which will lead to sustainable effects in the studied populations as generally applicable to the population at large.

IACCP Spark Grants

Inspired by discussions with IACCP regional representatives, the International Association for Cross Cultural Psychology has launched IACCP Spark Grants.

IACCP seeks to provide small grants to support cross-cultural researchers at all levels.

OPRA Research Grants

Modern physics is the foundation upon which many engineering achievements were based upon in the 20th century. Our everyday digital life serves as ongoing proof of its power. We believe that strong physics must rely on experimental findings and unshaken mathematical treatment. When experimental findings are not aligned with a physical theory it is an excellent opportunity to improve, modify or replace the theory.
