Defining the Research Future: University of Nairobi Research Policy Nears Completion

The University of Nairobi, through the Research, Innovation, and Enterprise (RIE) Division, is finalising a new Research Policy framework that will solidify its position as a global centre for discovery. The policy will also ensure that the research function is in step with the University’s 2023–2027 Strategic Plan; higher education regulatory requirements; and national, regional, and continental development priorities.

Strengthening Research Ecosystems: UoN and University of Manchester Partner for Equitable Research Management

The University of Nairobi (UON), through the C4DLab, officially launched the UNIHUBS International Training Activity and the 4th Partners’ Meeting, taking place from March 2nd to 6th, 2026. From Research to Livelihoods: UoN’s Science Translation Hub to Transform Food Systems

Hosted under the Kenya Science Translation Hub, the workshop brings together early-career researchers and PhD candidates from the University of Nairobi (UoN), University of Embu, and Maseno University, alongside postdoctoral researchers from the University of Leeds. RIE Explores Strategic Pathway to Commercialise Garlic- Based Meat Preservation Innovation

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Enterprise (DVC-RIE), Prof. Leonidah Kerubo today hosted a high-level engagement between the University of Nairobi and the Kenya Development Corporation (KDC) to unlock the commercialisation pathway for a promising home-grown innovation: a garlic extract technology for natural meat preservation.

DVC RIE Launches University-Wide Data Collection Exercise to Strengthen Institutional Sustainability

The DVC kicked off the exercise at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, where she was received by the Faculty Dean, Prof. Jack Odhiambo. Later, the DVC’s team, which included the Director of Research and Enterprise, Prof. Thomas Ochuku, and the Director, Library and Information Services, Mrs Angela Mumo, visited the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST).
