The Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) Division proudly celebrates its staff members who were recognised for outstanding performance during the University Staff Recognition Awards Ceremony on 26 February 2026.
The awards, which brought together staff from across the University, honoured excellence, dedication, and measurable contribution to institutional growth during the 2024/2025 period. Among the distinguished awardees were four RIE team members whose commitment continues to strengthen the Division’s strategic mandate in promoting research, innovation, partnerships and, enterprise development.
In one of the award ceremony’s special recognition category, the Director of Intellectual Property Management, Prof. Maina Wagacha, received the prestigious award as one of the University’s top resource mobilisers, bringing in over 270 million Kenya shillings. This recognition highlights exceptional leadership in securing strategic partnerships and supporting grant acquisition.
The four recognised RIE staff members who were honoured for their exemplary performance and dedication to service excellence were Eng. John Maina, Mr David Wanjui, Ms Dorothy Magawi, and Mr Frederick Ingosia. Their collective efforts contributed significantly to enhancing operational efficiency, researcher support systems, and stakeholder engagement within the Division. The Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Enterprise, Prof. Leonidah Kerubo, joined the awardees for commemorative photographs,
marking a proud moment for the Division.
