University of Nairobi and Huaqiao University in talks to accelerate new partnership

Acting Deputy Vice‑Chancellor Professor Leonidah Kerubo, representing the Vice‑Chancellor, Prof. Margaret Hutchinson, welcomed the delegation led by Mr. He Chunzheng, Vice Chairperson of the Huaqiao University Council. The meeting held on 27 April 2026 at the University’s Main Campus discussed plans to deepen collaboration in student and faculty mobility, joint research, and programmatic alignment including 2+2 dual‑degree pathways.

UoN and AFRETEC: Charting a Bold New Path for Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation

The workshop was convened primarily to onboard researchers into collaborative ecosystems designed to dismantle traditional academic silos. The University’s Director of Research and Enterprise, Prof. Thomas Ochuku Mbuya,  also leading the Sustainability Cluster, highlighted that by integrating research clusters, the University is "not just producing papers, but building a thriving ecosystem to provide the intellectual power needed for national development”. 

UoN Academics Launch Mentorship Programme to Empower the Next Generation of Female Scientists

The launch, held at the UoN Towers, coincided with the kickoff of the “Sisters Science Safari”, an experiential learning programme designed to immerse secondary school girls from Nairobi, Narok, and Kajiado counties into the world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) by connecting them with successful female scientists and academic role models.

The Annual Tree Planting and Growing Ceremony at the University of Nairobi’s Upper Kabete Campus marked a significant milestone in the institution’s journey toward environmental stewardship.
