This Year Kenya Innovation Week 2024 took place from 25th to 29th November 2024. The Theme being " Re-Imagining Africa  future Kenya's Innovation spark".

Research week 2024 kicked off from 28th October to 1st November 2024. Opening the event was Hon. Mr. Julius Migosi Ogamba Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education as the guest of honor. Vice chancellor, UON Prof. Margret Jesang Hutchinson was present. Also present was Prof. Wang shangxue, the Director of Confucius institute at the University of Nairobi.

Prof. M. J. Hutchinson vice chancellor University of Nairobi graced  the inaugural national outstanding research awards at the closing ceremony of the Kenya National Research Festival 2024.

Life time research awards were given to our very own Prof David Musyimi Ndetei and Prof Ruth Nduati.

University of Nairobi participated in this year Kenya National Research Festival 2024 . The event was held at The Edge Convention Centre, College of Insurance-Nairobi. It took place from  19th to 23rd August 2024

In attendance was the DVC(RIE) Prof. Francis J. Mulaa, Director Research Prof Justus M. Munyoki  among other staff members and Exhibitors.

From University of Nairobi we had three innovators as follows

1. Mr. Otieno Otieno with WAKAZI Artisan Platform

2. Mr. Martin Nanje with Potato Harvester

University of Nairobi won the Seed Grants for "Enhancing the capacity of PhD students and Early Career Researchers on Grants Proposal Writing from the CARTA Consortium.

It is in this regard that the office of DVC(RIE) organized for a Workshop on development of training guidelines and toolkits for enhancing capacity of PHD students and early career researchers on grant proposal writing that was held at Maasai lodge from 6th to 7th August  2024.

Prof. Stephen Kiama, Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi,  officially opened the University of Nairobi's third Capacity Building Workshop, The two-day workshop was held on June 24–25, 2024, as part of the ARUA-Carnegie Data-Gathering & Benchmarking Project's Phase 3 activities, which aimed to develop best practices for institutional research at ARUA universities and facilitate peer learning.

The Commission  for University Education  has invited  University of Nairobi (UoN) to participate  and exhibit at the 4th Biennial Conference on Universities Research and Innovation to be held at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC)  from 12th- 14th Ju

On Wednesday, May 8, 2024 the University experienced a historical event that saw the Official Opening of the 8th edition of the Nairobi Innovation Week 2024 that was characterized by Innovation exhibitions, attendance by Faculty, Government and Government Agencies, Industry partners and the UoN students and their innovations.  

‘Innovation is the way to go!’ This is the collective message that was echoed by all those that spoke during ceremony.

Prof. M. J. Hutchinson DVC(RIE) Officially welcomed the Deans and Associate Deans in the
capacity strengthening training in grant proposal development meeting which took place at the University of Nairobi Towers on 12th April 2024.

Dr. Angeline Chepchirchir the  Project PI took over in explaining the role of Deans and Associate Deans /Directors, outlining the project activities and explained role of TOTs in mainstreaming grant proposal writing training at faculty level.
