Courtesy call by staff from North Carolina State University

On October 30th 2022  the Associate Vice Chancellor (RIE),Prof. Margaret J. Hutchinson  received a short courtesy visit by two Professors from North Carolina State University. They were brought in by Prof R.O. Nyankanga, Department of Plant Science and Crop Protection  after being  up-country for two weeks meeting with Indigenous Vegetable and Aquaculture farmers in the process of developing a joint proposal with KALRO, KMFR and University of Nairobi. 

The  Professors shared what they were proposing to do and other  possible collaborations with North Carolina State University.

TREE PLANTING DAY

The Dean of students in collaboration with Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Vet. Medicine organized for the tree planting ceremony on Wednesday November 16, 2022 at the Upper Kabete Campus.

POLICY BRIEF TRAINING (Virtual)

The Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor (RIE) on 17th November 2022 held an Online  Policy brief training which was facilitated by  Prof. Raphael Nyonje and Dr. Parita Shah.

Dr Parita Shah presented a presentation on understanding a Policy brief, why it is important and the structure of a policy brief.

The Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor (RIE) on 15th November 2022 received courtesy call from UNEP representatives , to explore on areas of collaborations, research, publications,  policy briefs and student supervision among other things between UNEP and UON.To also look at strategic partnership,hosting events with UON, Innovative technologies in food systems, focus on bringing science to pragmatic level, Call for junior fellows- Recently graduated Young researchers/ Career development, Align Research mandate to GEO 7 ,Review of sustainable development goals and to position UON to tak

ARUA WORKSHOP FOR DATA TEAMS(Data- gathering and Benchmarking Project

Associate Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Enterprise, Professor Margaret Hutchinson  met with the Secretary General of ARUA  Prof Ernest Aryeetey and other  female DVCs from stellenbosh, Logos, Ibadan Universities for a Data gathering and Benchmarking Workshop at the Protea Hotel, Technopark, South Africa.

This was a a three day Conference starting form 1st November to 3rd November 2022.

OPENING CEREMONY OF THE 5TH ANNUAL RESEARCH WEEK CONFERENCE

Kenyan youth have been urged to engage in farming. This was the clarion call that the keynote speaker, Dr. Lusike Wasilwa, Director Crop system at the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), made as she delivered her keynote speech during the opening ceremony of the 5th annual research week on Monday 24th October, 2022. 

“You need a farmer 3 times a day” she reiterated.
