Monday, October 23, 2023 was the Official Opening Ceremony that was held at the UoN Towers, 5th floor, Chandaria Auditorium. The CS of Education, Dr. Ezekiel Machogu was the Chief Guest and Dr. Catherine Kyobutungi, the Executive Director, African Population Health and Research Center, was the keynote speaker who addressed the audience on, 'Research for Development: The Paradox'.
The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation And Enterprise (RIE),on behalf of on behalf of Prof Margaret J. Hutchinson, Prof Justus Munyoki, Director for Research received two members of the Norwegian project management team whom in collaboration with other universities in Ghana.
The centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria and the Faculty of Law, University of Nairobi cordially launched two publications recently published by the Pretoria University Law Press. The two publications was launched in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa (Maputo Protocol). The Maputo Protocol turns 20 on 11 July 2023.
The Rockefeller Foundation from the New York had a brief visit to our University in the Faculty of Agriculture. During their visit the team was hosted by Prof. Margaret J. Hutchinson, DVC (RIE), Prof. Moses Nyagito, the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Jane Amboko the Project Principal Investigator and together with the project and faculty staff.
Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research Innovation and Enterprise Prof. Margaret J Hutchinson was invited for the official opening ceremony of Tripartite partnership agreement ,industry-academia workshop.
The Department of Plant Science and Crop Protection held a departmental webinar on ”Genomics and application in research” at the department during which Prof Hernan from Nebraska University, Lincoln, USA was the Key Note Speaker. During Prof. Hernan’s visit to the University of Nairobi, he had an opportunity to discuss the possibilities of possible future collaborations in staff and student exchange and writing joint proposals. Training on bioinformatics approaches will be also be done to build capacity for the Kenyan scientists.
