Heritage Collections Research Fellowships

IASH hosts a lively scholarly community of visiting fellows. It is a supportive environment for postdoctoral researchers, while also offering networking opportunities with successful mid-career and eminent senior scholars. The Institute occupies a historic building with private courtyard and leafy views – perfect for uninterrupted thinking, reading and writing. Yet there is also plenty of opportunity to socialise and share ideas.

In short, a 2024-2025 Heritage Collections Research Fellowship provides:

Career development award

Apply for funding to support your move to independent investigator in a medical research field.

Your research can focus on any area of MRC’s remit to improve human health.

You must:

  • have a PhD or equivalent
  • show evidence of career progression
  • show clear plans for developing as a leader in your specialist area of research.

Your research plans must not overlap with those of your current group leader or proposed sponsor.

There’s no limit on the amount of funding you can apply for.

AHRC research, development and engagement fellowships: early career researchers route

This fellowship scheme allows early-career researchers to carry out high-quality innovative research that moves significantly beyond doctoral projects, in any area covered by AHRC. It provides the opportunity to develop experience and capabilities as research specialists and to undertake innovative and collaborative development activities.

Future Leaders Fellowships: round 7

This scheme is for early career researchers and innovators who are either:

  • looking to establish or transition to independence
  • developing their own original and ambitious plans within a commercial setting.

We are offering funding to support ambitious research or innovation programs across UKRI’s remit.

You must be based at, and have the support of, an eligible academic or non-academic institution.

African Graduate Fellowships

The African Graduate Fellowship is a competitive fellowship program for bright, highly motivated African students interested in pursuing a master's degree at The American University in Cairo (AUC). Each year, fellowships are offered to nationals of African countries (not including Egyptians) for full-time study; nine credits or as required by the program in any of the graduate programs offered at the AUC.

Short Stay Research Fellowships

The Africa Platform of Ghent University Association (GAP) welcomes applications for visiting fellows. As one of the five regional platforms at Ghent University, GAP facilitates and fosters academic collaboration between Ghent University Association and academic institutions in Africa. The Africa Platform hosts five visiting research fellows every year. Awardees will spend a minimum period of two weeks at Ghent University or one of the associated University Colleges.
